MOA ROAD BOARD.
MONTHLY MKKTJXa. The monthly meeting of the Moa Road Board was held at tnglewood on Saturday, when there were present: -Messrs H. Trimble (chairman), M. Hopsoti. A. E. Laurence. J. Collingwood, J. Williams and A. Corkill. FOREMEN'S REPORTS. Foreman Wilninhurst had been round all the roads in liis division, and reported that tin; major portion oi were in bad order. He had put on a man to assist on the I'pland road north. Hursthouse road required attention, and he had repaired a bridge on this road, making it safe for traffic. Contracts for metal on the Lcpper road south, Dudley road west and Windsor road were completed. Foreman Jones had been engaged in maintenance work on the Johns, Surrey, Norfolk cast and Durham east roads. The Norfolk east boulder contract was completed. Sixty feet of 12in pipes was, required on Norfolk west, whilst 350 ft of timber was needed for the Rugby road bridge. He also asked for a man for a few days on John's road. —Authorised to engage necessary labor. Timber,, etc., will be procured. Foreman W. Bennett bad been employed on the Kaimata and l'atapiko roads gathering loose stone and blinding. Water tables on tlie Salisbury and Ross roads required attention. The metal contractor on tlie Motukawa road would commence work in a fortnight. The contractor is to be urged to commence work at once, otherwise the deposit will be forfeited. Foreman Jvnofl'lo'ek bad been engaged raking up loose stone, patching, clearing water-tables, blinding and banking up metal and repairing bridge on Mangaone load ami formation 011 Everett road. Mangaone and Kaimata north metal contracts had been completed. He would like an additional 25 yards on the latter road. Various work was required on the Suffolk, Bristol and Dudley East roads. The extra metal asked for was , granted. Foreman G. Ward had been engaged 011 ! the swing bridge on the Bedford road. | MONTHLY STATEMENT. J The monthly statement showed that ] receipts for the month had been £343 j 12s 3d (rates £342 Gs 3d). The expendi- J ture had amounted .to £l5O lis 4d. The j bank balance showed a credit to the j general account of £6lO 2s 7d, and to I loans account £124 3s 9d. RTMUTAUTEKA ROAD.
Mr. A. Mcßae again drew attention to the state of the above road, which was still in a disgraceful condition. He pointed out that although the Board had promised to attend to the road some three months ago. after receipt of his first, complaint, nothing had yet been done. lie therefore urged that something might be done before the wet weather came on. Foreman Rnofflock'is to be instructed to attend to the road at onee. PETITIONS TO MERGE.
The two petitions from 76 settlers in the Mo'a road district, comprising territory west of the Waiohgona river, which were presented at last meeting, asking that such area should bo merged in the Taranaki county, were again before the Board. Resolved to inform the petitioners tliat the_ Board had no power to accede to their request. '■ GENERAL. The chairman's action in appointing A. 1 Wilmshurst foreman of No. 1 division, in j place of W. Laurence; who declined to take up the appointment, was confirmed. It was resolved to add the 10 per cent, penalty on all rates unpaid by February
Mr. 11. J. dkey, M.P., wrote stating that he was communicating with the Minister of Public Works on the subject of the vote of £SO: appearing on the Supplementary. Estimates for the Egmont Road, as he was satisfied that this was placed there for the purpose of expenditure on that road between Egmont Village and the Forest Reserve gate. It was resolved to allow Mr. Lindsay to put in a crossing nt his entrance on the Dudley road. Accounts .amounting. to £985 Ss 6d were passed for payment.
