By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Saturday. Regarding the Moeraki trouble. Mr. W. T. Young, secretary to the Seamen's Union, said the men went on watch at midnight and came off at 4 a.m. They had tea at 3 p.m. during the watch' below, and sometimes would turn out of bunk at 8 a.m. to have a snack. If they did not do so thev would get nothing from 5 p.m. until breakfast at 8 the next day. They had been given cold meat only during the last few months, not always, as was stated. Although the custom on the Moeraki was the same as on most New Zealand boats, in Western Ocean and Australian steamers the men are given hot meat. The request was not new, and, in view of the nature of the work, surely was reasonable. THE FIREMEN'S STRIKE. Wellington.
