mm THE' AUSTRALIAN RACE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Melbourne, January 11. Dr. Ramsay Smith, of Adelaide, read a paper in the anthropological section. He dealt with breeding, marriage and military training in relation to the Australian race. Evidence existed that changes, due to the altered environment, had already occurred in the white people of Australia. Early unions were desirable, especially among professional people. This implied fair salaries and State pensions for -widowed mothers. FUTURE MEETINGS. Melbourne, January 11. The Congress resolved that as the British Science Congress was to bo held in Australia in August. 1!)14, the next Australasian congress should be held in Hobart in li)l(i and Wellington subsequentty. THE MUELLER MEDAL. THE NEW PRESIDENT. Melbourne, January 11. The Mue'iler Memorial medal was awarded by the Science Congress to Professor Howchin, of Adelaide, for geological research. Professor Spencer was elected president for the ensuing year. » '
