Sir George Reid congratulated tlie Emperor on his long and illustrious reign and Oris especially" powerful influence in favour of the wor'.d's peace. The Emperor requested him, to convey to the Australian Government a message of friendliest interest and an assurance that while he lived he would work for the world's peace.
