THE FERRY SERVICE.
A DEADLOCK. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. \ No boat left Wellington to-night in nhe Wellington-Lyttelton ferry service. ]The Maori's firemen were disinclined 'jstill to resume work, and the vessel was , towed to-day to the Clyde quay wharf 4and tied up. It has not been decided jyet whether the balance of her crew jshall be paid off or not. The nondispatch of the Te Anau was due to h shortage of stokers. Several have .{signed off in the ordinary course, as "jtheir time was up, and it was found impossible to replace them. Mr. W. T. Young, secretary of the Sea-men's Union, interviewed, indicated that so long as no steamer was diverted from the ordinary run into the ferry service the union would not interfere, but if such a diversion was attempted trouble might follow.
