The British steamer Indra Kuala collided with and sank the steamer Julia Lufchenabch, in Chesapeake Bay. The captain and his wife and 20 sailors of the Julia Ludhenabeh were drowned. Six sailors clung to the rigging for hours, benumbed with cold, and were finally rescued. A terrific storm paralysed the rescuers' efforts.
