Received 19, 12.5 a.m. London, December 18. Mrs. Pet hick Lawrence, addressing representatives of suffrage socities, said ithat they must be prepared to smash and be smashed. "We must," she added, ' '"De prepared, if necessary, to break and destroy the material substance of life, and acquiesce if the material substance of our life is destroyed." LADY STOUT INTERVIEWED. By Telegraph —Press Association. Auckland, Wednesday. Lady Stout returned by the Mahva after an absence of nearly four years. She stated that llie women's suurage movement was making rapid strides in England, and she has no doubt whatever of its earlv success. She spoke of the immense number of women taking active part in tiie agitation, and stated that a large number of men were joining the movement, and it was coming like wildfire. Lady Stout lias fifteen non-militant brooches and badges.
