THE AUTUMN SHOW.

AN ATTRACTIVE SCHEDULE.

.Schedules are being i ssue d by the Tarnnaki Metropolitan Agricultural Society n connection with its 38th annual Show, to be held at New Plymouth on Wednes--97H, alK l Thl,rsd ?J'' February 26th and 27th. A perusal of the prize list diflelosos a substantial increase in prize money, distributed over a number of the sections. The horse section comprises no fewer than 81 classes. The several special championship awards should attract the pick of the bent blood. The leaping and other competitions will be spread over two days, and as usual should prove a great feature with visitors. The show has a reputation for its cattle, and the coming show, now that the date has been moved on to Autumn —thus catching many outside exhibitors who for various reasons have in the past found it impossible to exhibit at the Spring Show—should prove a record in this respect. This section consists of 123 classes, and is designed to attract all breeders. Sheep have been allotted 172 classes, and pigs have likewise been generously provided for. Dogs also loom very largely in the schedule, and It is confidently expected that the collection of canines will be a record in point of view of quality and number. No fewer than 211 classes have been allotted to this section, and the Society is sparing no pains to make this one of the premier dog shows in the North Island. The dairy produce exhibition should, by reason of the generous prize-money and diversity of classes, be a record, and the Society is already assured of substantial support in this connection. Numerous inquiries are beng made for space in the agricultural implements section, and, all I things considered, the show promises to be unique in the history of the province. Numbers of well-known'breeder* hitherto I not represented at the Society's show have undertaken to compete. Those not in the possession of schedules may obtain copies oil application.
