THE OTIRA TUNNEL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Monday. The question of the Arthur's Pass Tunnel contract will be settled by Cabinet next week. Meantime the work, is being, carried on by McLean and Sons under an arrangement with the Government, which lasts until Christmas. Probably the Government will call tenders for the completion. If these are not satisfactory it is likely the Public Works Department will complete the work.
THE BOOTH MEMORIAL. Napier, Monday. Up to the present, Commissioner Richards has received £IBOO in donations and promised contributions towards the Booth Memorial in Wellington, to cost £IO,OOO. The principal contributors are: —Mrs. Underwood, G. Hunter, M.P., W. F. Knight, Mr .and Mrs. Wells each £IOO, Mrs. Lowry £52 10s, A. Soldier, J. Sidey, R. McNab, F. Milner, W. C. Buchanan, M.P., Mr. John Strang, Mr. \V., Howard Booth, and the Ashhursi corps £SO each. The memorial will take the form of a training institute for officers and nurses.
