HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT.

Wellington, Mondar. The following is the High Commissioner's cablegram under date London, December 14. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot) : Mutton.—The market is firm. Stocks on hand are light and are firmly held in a few hands. High prices are restricting business. Canterbury 4%d. North Island 4%d. Lamb.—There i» a good demand for all lamb, with a small sup.i'y of Ncv Zealand. Australian supplies t.rc increasing. Canterbury 5%d, other than Canterbury 5%d. Beef.—The market is firm with more enquiry. Stocks of New Zealand beef on hand are light. New Zealand binds 3%d, fores ,3y B d. Butter.—The market remains firm,' with a fair demand for better grades for the Christmas trade, but for ordinary quality the market is quiet. The adjvanee in values fe extremely difficult to decide. Choicest New Zealand 122s to 12Gs, ordinary quality first grade 117s I to 121s, Australian 117s, Argentine 110s,' Siberian 110s, Danish 13k. Cheese.—The. market is quiet but steady. New Zealand while 01s M, coloured 02s Od. 1 Hemp— The market is steady and fanbusiness i« doing. New Zealand goodfair grade £33. fair grade £3l 10s; for any position fair current Manila £33, forward shipment £34. The output from Manila for the week was 29,000 bales. Wool.—The market is strong.
