THE EASTBOURNE MURDER. London, December 15. At the trial of Williams, charged with the murder of Inspector Walls at Eastbourne on October 9, Power (Williams' friend) gave evidence against the prisoner. The Judge disapprovingly commented on Power's playing the informer whilst retaining the confidence of Williams and Seymour, Williams' mistress. THE BELT FELLOWSHIPS. London, December 15. * Beit Fellowships of £250 have been awarded to Elsie Dalzell, of Sydney, for investigations of gastro-enteritie in infants at the Lister Institute, to S. W. Patterson. Melbourne, for diabetes researches at the University College, and to Harrie Schutze, Melbourne, for blood researches at the Lister Institute.
