From a study of the oilfields known to exist jn different parts of the world, it is thought highly probable that valuable springs are waiting to be tapped in Canterbury, and considering the huge profits that oil companies arc making, the syndicate, which intends forming a company with the object of prospecting the plains for oil will probably meet with a good deal of support.—Ashburton Guardian.
