ENTERTAINMENTS.
THEATRE ROYAL PICTURES. The magnifies it spectacular picture* "The Sphinx," will again be on view for the third and kst occasion at tho Theatre Royal this evening. This brilliant Eclair film is ably supported by one of the finest selection of motion picture gems ever screened in New Plymouth, and any picture patron missing this programme is missing an undoubted treat in animated pictures. To-morrow another great star masterpiece will bo presented in the 3000 feet Edison subject "Master Chimlewit," which gives a clear and vivid rendering of the story, and all the well-known Dickens' characters. EMPIRE PICTURE PALACE. A new selection of films is advertised for the Empire this evening from the leading world producers. Twelve pictures provide a variety of entertainment that could not be procured for the price anywhere but at a picture palace. The ever-popular Ivalem players appear in a stirring story of adventure titled "The Adventures of American Joe" and the American Biograph excel in a beautiful child film story, "A Child's Rei morse." Edison educational pictures are always interesting, and none will prove more so than their latest release, "Winter Logging in Maine, U.S.A." The film shows the activity of the logging camps during winter months, when the heavy snowfall makes the hauling of heavy loads of logs possible over the smooth, icy roads through the woods. The remainder of the programme is a fine selection of educational, dramatic and comedy pictures.
