PARITUTU.

THE NEW TRACK. One of the most attractive spots in or near New Plymouth is Paritutu and its neighbourhood. This grand rock, towering up 500 feet, is a striking object, visible from a great distance, whether one is upon the sea or on land. A. climb to the summit on a fine day is. most exhilarating, and when the top is gained the view of mountain, of sea and coast line, of smiling farms lying from the sea to the forest reserve, and stretching north and south as far as the eye can see, and the various cloud effects to be observed, especially at sunet leave an impression of beauty never tobe forgotten.

Some years ago Mr. Archibald Hood, by long and earnest efforts, got together sufficient money to do much to make the mount accessible, and the public have long enjoyed the fruits of his labor. Of late years, however, the lupin has greatly interfered with the access, and the path up the rock lias fallen into decay. Last week a few earnest people, who could not only talk, but who could work, and were not too much occupied with sports and pastimes, got together and did some excellent work. Much more, however, /remains to fee idone, so to-morrow another opportunity will be offered to the public to assist. It is much to be desired that a good muster will take place.
