Lord Charles Bcresford said the naval increases _ would not satisfy the men. The Admiralty was trying to find how little the men would take, instead of heing generous.

The Navy League has issued a statement that it does not regard the new rrates of pay as more than an instalment towards the settlement of long-standing claims.
