A LABOR SEAT LOST.
By Cable—Press Association—Copyright,
London, December 26,
The by-election for the Bow and Bromley seat, caused by Mr. G. Lansbury resigning to re-contest his seat on the women's suffrage question, resulted:—Blair (Unionist) 4042, Lansbury 3291. The suffragettes actively assisted in the campaign for Mr. Lansbury, but the contest was not confined to the franchise question. Aggrieved workers complained of the Insurance Act, and Mr. Lansbury suggested that it should be repealed. Many Liberals and Laboritß3 abstained from voting.
