THE ROSAMOND.

AGROUND AT WHANGAREI. By Telegraph—Press Association. . Whangarei, Thursday. The Union Company's steamer Rosamond went ashore at 5.20 this morning on Rat Island, Whangarei Harbor, when negotiating the channel near the limestone and cement works. At midday she was high and dry. An endeavor will be made to refloat her to-night at high-water. It is probable that she will be compelled to wait for the spring tides, owing to her inability to get off on accouat of the narrowness of the channel. Another steamer is assisting to pull her oil. No damage is known.
