Arnst announces that he | is willing to race Towns in twelve weeks I for £2OO a side, or all the best scullers in Australia for a sweepstake of £IOO [apiece, Arnst allowing the crowd 10 seconds at the finish. Arnst does not desire to interfere with Pearce's trip to England, but is willing to row Pearce for from £2OO up to £SOO, allowing 10 seconds at the finish. Towns wants the allowance at the start.
