THE WAIHI STRIKE.
THE INEVITABLE DEMONSTRATION,
By Telegraph—Press Association. Waihi, Last Night. There were demonstrations of nonworkers and women this afternoon, when the mine shift was coining off, of a similar character to those, since work was resumed last week. The evening train with the returning Union Band winch took part in the Auckland demonstration yesterday was met by a large crowd. The bandsmen were cheered. After detraining, they headed a procession and inarched to the union hall.
THE EGG ARGUMENT.
Waihi, Yesterday. Strike matters are quiet. The men went to work this morning without incident. Last night the house of one of the workers was assailed with eggs. On the appearance of the police the assailants dispersed.
WANGANUI APATHETIC.
Wanganui, Last Night. Inquiries among leading Labor officials show that so far as local Unions are concerned there is no sympathy with the recent twenty-four hours Waihi demonstrations, or the general policy of the Federation of Labor in connection with Waihi.
