INDUSTRIES PRESERVATION. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Melbourne, October 3. The High Court reserved judgment in the appeal of the Melbourne Steamship Company from a fine of £5 and £lO 10s costs, for declining to state, among other things, whether it was directly or indirectly concerned in an alleged agreement with certain colliery and steamship proprietors, and what the terms of the agreement were. The ground of the appeal is that the Aus- [ tralian Industries Preservation Act does I not apply to the question asked, as the purpose of the information was for use |in proceedings already commenced 1 against others.
A MURDER CASE. Sydney, October 3. Theogose has been sentenced to death for the murder of Hoey at Grafton on tally 22. Prisoner made a statement that he was getting the rifle out of Hoey's tent in the darkness when it went off and shot Hoey. He was scared at the accident and fled.
CHEAP IRON ORE WANTED. Sydney, October 3. Mr. C. Kido, representing the Japanese GoveVn'ment, is visiting Australia, searching for cheap iron ore.
