AN UNFORTUNATE BANKRUPT.

By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. London, October 2. The creditors of Sir Cornthwaite Rason, formerly Agent-General for Western Australia, passed a resolution making liim bankrupt. Sir C. Rason attributes bis position to bis being defrauded by firms now in bankruptcy, helping others, and borrowing money at heavy interest. The official receiver stated that the assets were negligible.

BURNED TO DEATH. Ottawa, October 2. Ten children of a farmer named Gravel were burned to death by tlio destruction of a farmhouse.

ARBITRATION. New York, October 2. , 'Mr. Taft is renewing his efforts for Anglo-Franco-American arbitration on the basis of the treaties amended by the Senate last session.

SIR GEORGE REID. New York, October 2. Sir George Reid cancelled his return passage to England in order to visit Mr. Taft and the British Ambassador. His action was due to a cablegram from the British Foreign Office. ' A NEGRO LYNCHED. New York, October 2. The convicts in the State prison at Rawlings, Wyoming, lynched Frank Wigwall, a negro, who had been arrested on a charge of having assaulted a white woman.
