RIFLE SHOOTING.

DEFENCE CLUB v. TERRITORIALS. A rifle match was fired yesterday on the Rewa Rewa range, between teams of eight men, representing the ,New Plymouth Defence Rifle Club and the local Territorials. The Rifle Club proved victorious by 13 points. A light gale prevailed, but nevertheless some good shooting took place. Possibles were registered at 500 yards by Rifleman A. Humphries, and at 600 yards by Staff-Senior-Sergeant Bond. Lieutenant Hartriell made top score with 100 out of a possible 105-. Rifleman Humphries was next with 99. The match was really a sendoff to Lieutenant Willis, to whom at.its conclusion President Humphries, of the Rifle Club, on behalf of the riflemen, made a presentation of a_ shooting bag and a pipe.« Scores were as follows: — DEFENCE CLUB. 300 500 600 Tl President Humphries .. 30 35 34 09 Rfm.
