TIMARU-CHRISTCHURCH RACE. WON BY SUTHERLAND (OPAWA). By Telegraph—Press Association. Christehurch, Last Night. Official times were: Sutherland, shr. 38min. 31 2-osec; Cook, Shr. 3Dmin. 31 3-ssec; Prebbles, ohr. 41min. 32 2-osce.: Conlan, shr. 33niin. 5 2-ssee. H. Henderson (Wanganui), 7min., with Shr. 20min. 31sec, about 10 minutes better than the existing record, put up in 1010, secured fastest time, and E. Wall (Halswell), with tain, start, secured second fastest time, in Shr. 32min. 27sec.

J. Sutherland (Opawa) is twenty-four years of age. He started in the big race in 1909 and 1910, being on 45min. and 27min. respectively, but he had bad luck. He teaid that he rode with Cook throughout. The ride was solid, and the roads in parts were a bit loose, but the last bit on the grass was a tough struggle. Cr. Cook, who rode in the race for the first time, finished just behind the winner. He said that the ride was rough, and the roads in patches pretty bad. It was necessary to pick the way carefully. "It was too solid for me in the first half," was the remark of J. F. Prebble, who finished third, "but I stuck to them. The roads were pretty good and the race pretty solid." 6. G. Henderson (Wanganui), the fastest rider, has been riding for eight years, and last year he obtained third fastest time. He had two spills, one a bad one, after passing Geraldine, when he fell ever McTeigue.
