THE WAIHI STRIKE.

The Waihi Borough Council, at a, special meeting last night, dealt with the action of several members of the Fire, Brigade in commandeering the brigade motor-car to take part in a strike procession, the car being decorated mth red flags. After discussion it was decided that the Fire Council meet the brigade to-day and obtain an explanation and apology. In the course of the discussion, Or. Corringham said he had asked one of the brigade what he would do if an engine-driver's house were on fire, and \' the brigadesman told him he would fill the hose with kerosene., The brigade had been notified not to take the car out except in cases of alarm, but the notice was treated with contempt. A NAPIER PROTEST. Napier, Tuesday. At a meeting of the Napier branch of'the Amalgamated-Society' of Carpenters and Joiners a resolution of protest against the imprisonment of the Waihi miners was carried unanimously.
