A MYSTERY SOLVED; By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston North, Last" Night. The body of a man was found' on the river beacii liear Foxton to-day. It has been identified as that of David Lynn, who was cook on the steamer Gertie, trading to Foxton, and who disappeared from the vesse'l at Foxton some weeks ago.
DEATH FROM HEART FAILURE. Dunedin, Last Night. A man named Frederick Booth, aged 30 years, died suddenly at 1 p.m. at his mother's place, South Dunedin. Deceased wa3 a machinist and went, this morning, to take up a position at Reid and Gray's. On going home at midday he complained of feeling unwell, and his mother gave him a drink, but he immediately! started lvomitiug (and died soon afterwards. Dr. Lindon expressed the opinion that death was due to heart failure. THE TRAMWAY FATALITY. Invercargill, Last Night. The inquest on Frederick Smith, the victim of the tramway fatality on Saturday, was opened to-day. Medical evidence was given t« the effect that death was caused by shock following on injuries received. The evidence of witnesses was conflicting, as to the length of time that Smith was under the car, before being released, the estimates varying up to about 25 minutes. The delay was regarded as serious by the medical witnesses, who stated that the chance of recovery was thereby considerably lessened. There are still several witnesses to be examined .
KILLED BY A TRAIN 1 ". Christchurch, Last Night. The police authorities received information to-nightf that a child had 'been killed at Sefton by the North express the previous evening. No further particulars are available.
