PETROLEUM
Word was received yesterday, by th» directors of the Taranaki (New Zealand* Oil Wells, Limited, that the rotary drilling plant was .shipped per the s.s Whakarua, which is due at Wellington on October 15.
In anticipation of its arrival, the site of the new derrick, situated on Mr Honeyfield's property, has been .pegjred off and timber has been ordered and will be on the ground by the end of the week, The erection of the derrick will be commenced next iweek, so that everything will be in readiness to receive the plant when it arrives, it being hoped to start drilling when it arrives by the end* ol next month. ' ' , The erection of two derricks at Bell Block and the fixing in position of the plant is well in hand. No. 1 derrick is situated on Mr. Rundle's property ami Xo. 2 on Mr. Gus Sole's farm.
It is expected that Sir George Clifford will arrive in New Plymouth on Friday to confer with the local directors,
