Great interest attached to the Rosehill meeting, owing to its being generally regarded as the first of the spring meetings to throw light on the big handicaps. vus (imp.)— Queenbird 2 Hon. A. Wynne's b c Cider, by Ayr Laddie (imp.)— Praleen ... 3 Fourteen horses started. Won by a head. Time, lmin. 27y 2 sec.
Spring Stakes; one mile.—Malt King, 1; Cisco, 2; Popinjay, 3. Ten started. Won by half a length, with a length and a half between second and third. The New Zealander Allegory finished fourth. He acquitted himself well, showing a great improvement on his previous performances. Ermengarde (New Zealand) Was last, after showing a fine pace in the early part of the race. The Rosehill Handicap, of a mile and a quarter, was won by Eric. Twentyfour horses' started, including the New Zealanders Vice-Admiral, Bronze, Shuja, Monoplane and Blakeney. The Rosehill Hurdles, of two miles, was won by ihe New Zealander Paisano, Lion being second and' Don Quex (New Zealand) third. Fifteen horses started, and Paisano won by four lengths.
