J SAZANOFF ATTACKED. TENSION IN THE BALKANS. By Cable— Press Association—Copyright. Received 22, 5.5 p.m. London, September 22. When M. SazanotT reached Victoria a man rushed to the carriage, flourishing a placard, shouting "Clear out of Persia!" The detectives seized him. He proved to be a member of the AngloPersian Committee, and has been released. The tension in the Balkans is increasing. Sir E. Grey and M. SazanofT have strongly warned Bulgaria against her bellicose attitude.
The Mussulmans in Diakova and Jpek have threatened the Porte with a general insurrection if it entertains M. Berchtold's proposal. STORMY SPEECHES. Constantinople, September 21. In the Armenian National Assembly there were stormy speeches. The Government was accused of unwillingness and inability to maintain public security in Armenia.
The Bishop of Pera favored demanding arms from the Government, and, if refused, declining to pay taxes. MACEDONIA'S PLIGHT. Vienna, September 21. Many Bulgarians fear that the Government will possibly be compelled to choose between war with Turkey or a revolution in Bulgaria, unless the Macedonians' lot is ameliorated.
The Austrian papers warn the Porte that Austria will view drastic action against the Malissori with disfavor.
FIERCE FIGHTING. Received 23, 12.35 a.m. Rome. September 22. General Ragni reports that he has captured the Zanzur oasis after a ten hours battle. The advent of a* strong body of Turks forced the Italians to use'their reserves. Fierce fighting ensued. The artillery were obliged to charge with bayonets. Two hundred Italians were killed and wounded. The Turkish losses are large.
