The Telegraph'says that so fa! is the unbiassed lay mind can see daylight through the thicket of legal technicalities in which the facts arc obscured, the Vend decision will have the endorsement of the country's common sense. The Herald says that the luminous judgment draws what most will consider the proper distinction between lawful combinations and those to the detriment of the public The whole case turned on the word detriment, and the judgment indicates that defendants, in taking i he steps they did for the preservation of trade and the maintenance oi the wages of their employees, did nothing unlawful. On the contrary, they conserved the interests of their work- : men and themselves.
