ELECTIONEERING.
A GRAVE CHARGE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Saturday. The exposure by the West Coast Times of the Ward Government's electioneering methods, in connection with the Westland election, is the political sensation of the hour here. To-day the Dominion republishes the whole story, also a facsimile of the "service" telegram from Thos. Seddon, copies of which were circulated in ,South Westland during the election, at the taxpayers' expense, as follows: —S. G-. Ferguson, Fergusons,— Tell all my friends as far down as Okuru that in to-night's Public Works Estimates provision is made to extend the railway south of Mikonui. Regards, Thomas Seddon." The telegraph service was used to transmit this telegram from place to place, free of charge. The' Dominion, in a scathing article, says it is a contemptible business all through. [We publish this telegram for what it is worth, feeling satisfied that Mr. T. G. Seddon will have a complete answer to the charges made when called upon. Probably the West Coast Times has confounded the ordinary "privilege" .rates allowed to members of Parliament with "service'' telegrams.— Ed Taranaki News.]
