Nelson and Taranaki was a bright and willing go from start to finish, despite the inequalities of the parties suggested by the score of eight to one. Nelson had to rely mu*h upon Miss Whitwell, and to-day she was suffering from influenza. In consequence Nelson were not at their best. Taranaki are an amazingly game combination, playing fair hockey always and are sound in defence. At the end of the play, with things all against them, they were playing as confidently and as cheerfully as they were in the beginning. ' !
