CRICKET.

PROPOSED AUSTRALIAN TOUR. J By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. A meeting of the Otago Cricket Association was held this evening to consider the question of a visit from the Melbourne team. Mr. George, of Wellington, wrote stating that in the team would be eight or nine first-grade men, including Trott, Scott, Facey, McCormick, Pontland and Kinnv, and two or three champions, possibly Laver and Noble. It was decided to offer the team fCO, or two-thirds of the net proceeds of the . gate for a three days' match, provided the first or second day be a Saturday. LAW CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the New Plymouth Law Cricket Club wa3 held yesterday, Mr. J. H. Quilliam presiding. In his annual report, which was subsequently adopted, the acting secretary (Mr. V. Elliott) remarked that though 1 the season did not perhaps produce so many interesting games as the previous season, the club had every reason to be content in winning the Saturday competition. A comparison of the two, seasons showed that in the previous year the club started most auspiciously, winning. consistently, but fell short in the final play-Off, where last season the position was reversed, the team recovering well and notching the championship. Regret was expressed in the report at the loss of four members (Messrs Ron. Quilliam, Paton, Harding and Clapham) through removal from the district. The bat presented 'by the president (Mr. Quilliam) for the best bowling average was won by T. P. Anderson, with an average of 7.3 runs per wicket. Receipts during the season totalled £l9 4s 9d, and there was a credit balance of £3 Is 6d. Officers were elected a,s follows:—President, Mr. J. H. Quilliam; vice-presi-dents, Messrs A. 11. Johnstone and J. E. Wilson; captain, Mr. A. Bewley; secretary and treasurer, Mr. E. Lash; auditor, Mr. S. G. Cottier; committee, Messrs E. P. Greatbatch, Anderson and Lawrey; committee, Messrs Bewley and Elliott; delegates to the Association, Messrs Greatbatch and Lawrey. Owing to the small number of players available, the meeting decided to extend the constitution of the club by making members of the Law Courts and Leeds Office eligible for membership, as well as the staffs of law offices.' The retiring captain (Mr.'Lash) was accorded a vote of thanks for his past sernces.
