SPRING FLOWER SHOW.

A MAGNIFICENT COLLECTION. The interior of WJiitcley Hail waa transformed into u veritable garden of Eden yesterday, on the occasion of the animal flower show in connection with Hie Whiteley Church. The tables contain a magnificent collection of blooms. They are attractively terraced, and this arrangement is a big improvement on that of last year. The general quality of the exhibits is well up to the high standard set by previous shows, while a new departure in the shape of the novice class is quite a feature of the exhibition. In the classes for exhibition only, excellent displays have been tabled' by the Morshead Nursery Company, and Messrs. Duncan and Davies. The private horticulturists are well represented. Mia» Gibson has a collection of daffodils. Mr. Newton King is featuring primroses ani primulas, Mr. J. 11. Frethey narcissi and spring flowering bulbs, Mrs. Collis <;n array of pot'plants and cut flowers, Miss Devenish a collection of spring flowers, and Mr. French a variety of daffodils. Mr. 0. 11. Smith in aUo represented. Thz jumble stall is being well patronised, and it is anticipated that the show will be well attended both this afternoon ;nd evening. COMPETITIVE CLASSES. The following awards were mad' in the competitive classes:— Cut blooms, novices.—Mrs. N. Allen 1, Miss Ruby Allen 2, Miss Winnie Sole ,'3. Decorated tables.—Miss Irene Fretihy 1, Mrs. J. Gibson 2, Miss Ruby Allen 3. Decorated mantelpieces.—Miss Winnie Sole I,' Mrs. J. Gibson 2, Miss Ruby Allen 3. Basket of flowers.—Miss May MeGahey 1. Vase of flowers.—Miss I. McGahey 1, Miss Beatrice Carter 2. Buttonholes.—Miss Enid White 1, Miss Dorothy White 2, Miss Florence Pascoe 3. The decorated' classes were judged by Mesdames Cock and Newman and Miss L. Foote, and the cut blooms by Messr». F. Morshead and J. H. Frethey'.
