Mr. G. Blake arrived by the express last night to make arrangements for the opening of the Wykeham-Nable Company, who will play a two-nights' season in New Plymouth on September 19 and 20. Mr. Victor Booth, examiner to the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of' Music (London) is expected to arriTe by to-night's mail train. The local examinations will be hold on Saturday.
The parishioner; of St. Andrews' Pre byterian Church at T Tasting*, yesterday presented the Rev. Peter Ramsay with a gold watch and chain to mark the twenty-lift h anniversary of his entrance to the Ministry, and also made a presentation to Mrs. Uamsay, to commemorate her silver wedding. In acknowledging a vote of thanks at the annual meeting of the Fcilding Chamber of Commerce, of which he was president, Mr. F. Piraui expressed his intention of practically (retiring from public life during the next twelve months, lie was nt the head of a good many institutions, including the Wanganui Education Board, and he intended to relinquish them all. He had been giving his serves n good deal to the nublie, and he would like to have a little, time to himself.
