ESCAPED LUNATICS.
GINGER SMITH RECAPTURED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Saturday, 'fiinger" Smith has been recaptured at Hamilton. He was recognised walking in the street and pounced upon and handcuffed by a constable, without giving him any chance of resistance. Smith was placed in a cell and searched by the constable, who found in his pocket a tin of cayenne pepper, such as is used by notorious criminals in preference to firearms. Smith was subsequently caught ill the act of prising the boards off the fireplace in the cell by the aid of the handle of a bucket. He will be kept under close supervision until placed in the train, which arrives in Auckland at % o'clock this afternoon, and will not be returned to the mental hospital, but probably transferred to gaol, the authorities having come to the conclusion that Smith has been malingering. So far there is no trace of Brockbank. BROCKLEBANK ALSO CAUGHT. Auckland, Last Night. Broekiebank was captured at Mercer oh Saturday.
