SUSPICIOUS DEATH.
WOMAN'S HUSBAND ARRESTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dannevirke, Saturday. Advice has been received by the local police that a woman named Mrs. Peter Beck, residing at Norsewood, was found dead in bed this morning under circumstances sufficient to justify the police in arresting her husband and charging hira with having caused liis wife's death. The husband has been arrested and is said to be in a bad way from the effects of drink. A post mortem has been ordered, and the inquest will be opened this afternoon. Later. Regarding the death at South Norsewood, deceased is the wife of Matthew Peter Beck, a farmer, who has resided in the district for a number of years. He found his wife on the floor of the bedroom early this morning, and informed his brother-in-law, Mulholland. of his discovery. Subsequently it was found that there were marks on the body requiring explanation, and the husband was arrested on suspicion of causing her death. The question of drink will probably play a prominent part. The inquest opened this afternoon, and will probably be adjourned.
