The Miners' Federation has given notice to move a resolution at the forthcoming Trade Union Congress at Newport to eliminate secular education from the future programme. Miners are convinced that secularism is seriously endangering trade unionism in Lancashire, Yorkshire, and Scotland. THE TRADE UNION CONGRESS. Received 22, 10.30 p.m. London, August 22. The Trade Union Congress will open at Newport, Wales, on September 2. Five hundred delegates will attend, representing two million members, an increase of 340,000 since 1911. THE LITHGOW STRIKE. Received 22. 10,20 p.m. Sydney, August 22. The Minister of Justice has declined to accede to the labor unions' further appeal to release Hatton, one of the Lithgow strike leaders.
