NICARAGUA.
A SERIOUS RISING. AMERICA INTERFERES. By Association.—Copyright, New York, August 21. The State Department considers that conditions in Nicaragua are sufficiently ■serious to warrant the dispatch of 200(1 bluejackets and marines, to protect the 1 lives of foreigners and property. The cruiser California has been ordered to Panama and the transport Prairie has been ordered to embark 700 marines lor Colon. The bluejackets will he carried by rail across the Isthmus of Panama, and will embark aboard the California and leave promptly for San .Juan del Sur and Corinto, Nicaragua. According to reports received by the State Department, a detachment of 501)0 Nicaraguan troops defended the city of Leon unsuccessfully. The rebels besieged them and captured the town and massacred the entire force of regulars, only 70 men escaping. The general conditions throughout the country are chaotic.
