General Booth Dead
A PEACEFUL END. By •able—Press Association—^Oopyrifht. Received 21, 10.20 p.m. London, August 21. General Booth died to-day. General Booth was comatose for 40 hours and died peacefully. He never regained consciousness. Mr. Bramwell Booth, Mrs Booth-Ell-berg, and two grandchildren, and Commissioner Howard were at the deathbed. The deceased's last spoken words referring to the promises of God were: "They are sure, they are sure if you will only believe." General Booth's secretary, in an interview, said that lie believed the disappointment at the non-restoration of |his sight had a greater effect on his health than the actual operation. The Times says that General Booth's death closes a strange career—one of the most remarkable of the age. It questions whether the Army has sufficient vitality to proceed without General Booth's driving force. The newspapers deplore the loss of the greatest world missionary.
