PUBLIC WORKS EXPEXDITURE. Sydney. August 21. In thp Assembly Mr. Parke? made, further charts against the administration of thp Works Department. Hp alleged that thp contractors lost £83.000 over the North Coast railway, yet Mr. Griffith relieved the contractors of their obligations and also returned their deposit of £20,000, thus saddling the country with a lo=s of over CSO.OOO. Mr. Griffith. in reply .said the contractors were claiming large sums above what thev received, and the, courts would decide whether they had received enough.
