RECIPROCAL RELATIONS.

SUGGESTED CONFERENCE. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. Melbourne, August 10. Mr. Fisher, speaking at the Commercial Travellers' Association anniversary, hoped that New Zealand would come into a closer relationship with Aus- ■ tralia in trade and defence than ever before. The Government cordially invited New Zealand representatives to discuss matters so that they would be fraternally together, not merely as parts of the Empire, but associated for mutual protection and progress. (Cheers.) He hoped that a conference would be held to discuss trade, including representatives of the Empire and the United States. By such means they could form a combination that would secure the peace of the world, despite any Power desirous of disturbing it. (Cheers.)
