At the Grand National meeting the principal event resulted as follows: GRAND NATIONAL HURDLE RACE, of 500 sovs.; about two miles ami a half Hardrada, 10.0 1 Waipuna (N.Z.), 10.7 2 Kulcurna, 11.7 3 Thirty-two horses started. Hardrada and Waipuna were prominent to the last fence, when Hardrada went on and won easily by four lengths. Time, 4min. •tiy.sjcc. ADELAIDE GUINEAS. The Adelaide Guineas, of 300 sovs, five furlongs, resulted:—Eadanga 1, Deeside 2, Priar Perfect 3. Nine ihorses started. Won by three lengths. Time, lmin. 4% sec. THE EXHIBITION HANDICAP. Brisbane, August 18. At the Queensland Turf Club's winter meeting the principal event resulted as follows: EXHIBITION HANDICAP, of COO sovs.:' one mile and a quarter. Goard, 9.12 .„ 1 Owen Roe, 7.7 2 Black Prince, 7.13 3 There were eighteen starters, and Goard won easily. Time, 2min. S%sec. GRAND NATIONAL MEETING. THE LAST DAY'S RACING. I>y Telegraph—Press Association. Christchureli, Last Night. The weather was fine, though cold, for the- concluding day of the Canterbury Jockey Club's Grand National meeting at Riccarton to-day. There was a very good attendance, and the course was in first-class order. The totalisator investments were better than on either of the previous days, amounting to £37,133 10s, as against £32,425 on the. corresponding day last year. The total for the meeting was £108,982, as compared with £02,079 for 1911. The following are the details of the results:—
United Hunt Club Steeplechase, of 100 so vs.; about two miles and a half.— Morihiko, 11.11. 1; 3 Lagmhor, 12.0. 2; 8 The Chief, 11.3, 3. 2 Hakari 11.0, Ability 11.0. 4 Pukeroa ll.fi, I) Kingswav II 0, s'Craigdugahl 10.7, 10 Mvall 9.9, 7 Miss Gibbs 0.7. and 11 Tolstoi 0.7, also started. Won easily by half a dozen lengths from Lagmohr, who was twelve lengths in front of The Chief. Time. smin. 20sec.
Heathcote Handicap, of 250 sovs.; seven furlongs.—2 Sea King, 10.fi, 1; 4 Kilmcny, 9.0, 2; <5 Ngatimaru, 9.0, 3. 5 Sea Queen 10.12, 7 Stepmeter 10.0, 1 My Lawyer 9.13, 9 Odessa 9.10, 3 Brown Trout 9.5, S Con the Shaughraun 9.4, 11 Smilax 9.2, a,nd 10 Leapuki 9.0, also started. Won by two lengths from Kilmeny, who was half a head in front of Ngatimaru. Time, lmin. 30 3-ssec. Sydenham Hurdle Handicap, of ,350 sovs\; one mile and three-quarters. 9 Coronetted, 9.9, 1; 1 Paisano, 12.2, 2; 0 Waterworks, 9.13, 3. 7 Black Northern 9.13, 3 John 9.12, 5 Darby Paul 9.9, 9 Uranium 9.9, 2 Bully 9.0, 8 Sandy Paul 9.0, 10 Leolanter 9.0, and 11 Jack Ashore 9.0 also started. In the run home, Coronetted drew away from the top weight and beat him by four lengths. Waterworks was two and a half lengths further back third, half a length in front of Sandy Paul. Then cime Bully, Darby Paul and John. Time, 3min. 25 2-ssec. Won by two lengths froms Armagh. Sir Lethe was three lengths away, then came Hautere, Captain Jingle and Kelp. Time, Cmin. 7 3-5 see. Won by a neck from The Native, who came with a late run.
