AUSTRALIA v. GLOUCESTERSHIRE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, August 16. When play was resumed in the match Australia v. Gloucestershire there were 2000 spectators. The wicket was slow and the hall was turning. Bardsley and Gregory went to the wicket again, and Dennett and Parker took up the bowling. The century took 125 minutes. Gregory was caught cleverly at the third attempt, thS hit falling short of mid-off. He was m for 43 minutes. Jennings filled the vacancy, and the best partnership ensued, adding 74. Jennings gave an exhibition of stylish play for 40 minutes. Bardsley was brilliant all round, playing some line forcing .strokes, lie hit a couple of sixes on the on side olf Dennett, lie readied 50 in 00 minutes. Bardsley continued steadily and was the last batsman out. Smith and Carkcek secured double figures, but the remainder made a poor stand. Bardsley reached 102 in 150 minutes, and received an ovation. He batted 170 minutes, playing faultless cricket. He hit three sixes and six fours, and his innings lasted 240 minutes.

The wicket was drying and Gloucestershire only made a moderate stand. The best stand was that of Barnett and Dennett for the tenth wicket, the partnership adding 07. Barnett started when six wickets were down, and was in for 30 minutes before scoring. He hit seven fours and was unbeaten. The century took 115 minutes and the innings lasted 150 minutes. Whitty had a good average.

Kelleway and Mayne opened for the Australians in the second innings. Dennett and Parker took charge of the bowling. They played out time. Mayne scored six and Kelleway nil. A downpour of rain started at five o'clock and the match was abandoned.
