Chaffin, of Wisconsin, officially notified his nomination as Prohibition candidate for the Presidency. THE CHANCES OF PARTIES. • Received 12, 11.35 p.m. London, August 12. The Times' Washington correspondent reports that Mr. Roosevelt is visiting every State in the Union. The proceedings at Chicago greatly impressed his enemies, but Wilson is still a general favorite. Roosevelt's Convention ended by equalising the odds upon Taft and Roosevelt for second place. It is intensely significant that the Radical third party should be considered to have an even chance of becoming after November the second party.
