STEAMER SUNK IN LAKE SUPERIOR. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright, New York, August 0. Five women, clad only in nightdresses, were rescued from the steamer James Gayley, which sank yesterday in Lake Superior, off Manitou, after colliding with the steamer Ilissbar. No lives were lost, although the Gayley sank in twenty minutes. She had a cargo of 7100 tons of coal, but was not insured. The Rissbar was badly damaged, but made Marquette under her own steam.
