MheLean, a member of the Dominion Parliament, in an article on "Would War between Britain and Germany ever be Nearer?" says that they must imagine that if Germany is successful in invading England, nothing will keep lier out of the United States, although Canada might be her first objective. It is time for thought—may be for prayer—and certainly for action.
PROPOSED NAVAL DISPLAY. MR. CHURCHILL TO VISIT CANADA. Received 12, 12.15 a.m. London, August 11. The correspondents of the Montreal Gazette and Toronto Globe, with Mr. ■Borden in England, state that Mr. Churchill will visit Canada in September with a battleship and an imposing squadron under Prince Louis of Battenburg. It is understood that Mr. Borden will ask Sir Wilfrid Laurier to confer with Mi'. Churchill on a permanent naval policy. and proposes a round-table conference m Canadian parties. There is some opposition amongst British Ministers to Mr. Churchill's visit, due to unwillingness to influence Canadian opinion.
