BREAKING AND ENTERING. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington. Monday. At the Supreme Court to-day, George Paul, alias Herbert Bartlett, said to be only 20 years of agv, was brought rip for sentence on two ciuurgee of breaking and entering and theft in the Nelson district. A youth of seventeen years, named James Scliall, who, since his arrival from South Africa, has been employed in a racing stable, pleaded guilty at the Supreme Court to-day to a change of forging and uttering a cheque.. The Chief Justice ordered the prisoner to come up for sentence when called upon. Edwin M. Bergeson and l Andrew Bergeron pleaded guilty, the former to breaking and entering and theft at Hastings, and the latter to receiving stolen property in that town. Andrew was sentenced to six months' imprisonment, while his brother was r.dmitted to probation for 12 months oil condition that he repaid the money stolen. Leonard Henrv Cress, aged 28, .received a. sentence of 12 months for breaking and entering and theft at Wellington. William Ellis was charged with assaulting Edward Kelly with intent to do bodily harm, and with .'..ling actual bodily harm. He was found not guilty of the major charge, si nil guilty of common assault, and was admitted to probation for 'twelve month-;, on condition teal he should not ton Is alcoholic liquor within that period and that, he pay ,C 88s <•«■;!«. Corbett was found not guilty, fstoek'bridge. who pleaded guilty, was remanded for sentence.
