HEART SEWED UP. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. New York, August 1. An operation lias been performed oil Oscar Xeil.son's heart. Thirty-six feet of gold wire was wrapped round the aorta and electricity sent through the wire. This reduced the swelling sufficiently to allow the heart to perform its functions. No anaesthetic was used. An incision was made between the fifth and sixth ribs, and sprayed with cocaine. Dr. Lusy is satisfied, as he did not expect to cure the patient entirely, but thought he might prolong Ins life. This is the second operation of this character performed in the United States, the previous one being on Henry Griffin, who was operated on five mouths ago. and is now thoroughly well. Neil?on i- showing improvement.
