PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.
TAFT CONCILIATORY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Washington, July 23. President Taft has written to the Finance Committee of the Senate favoring the repeal of the Canadian Reciprocity Act in consequence of Canada's refusal to enter into a trade pact. Mr. Taft's move is regarded as an endeavor to conciliate the fanning element, which is bitterly opposed to the agreement of 1911.
