THE TARANAKI BURGLARS.
BEFORE THE COURT. By Telegraph—Own CorrespondentStratford, Last Night. At the Magistrate's Court to-day, before Mr. J. Black, J,P., Percy Eichstaedt, aged about 28 years, and Thomas William Dean, aged about . 24 years, were charged that they did at Strathmore, on the 17th of July, 1912, break and enter the shop of George William Calvert, and steal therein five tins of Derby tobacco, three sticks of Haveloek tobacco, twenty-four .packets of cigarettes, some packets of cigarette papers, seven pocket knives, one packet of candles, two pairs of boots, two belts, two pairs of socks, one razor, and one hairbrush, of a total value of £3 ljg. Sergeant McNeely applied for a remand until next Friday. The men were then charged with breaking and entering the shop of Denis Ivor George, Bridge street, Waitara, and stealing therefrom sevea shillings in money and twenty-thre* packets of cartridges, to the total value of £1 15s. Detective-Sergeant Boddam, of New Plymouth, prosecuted. It is probable that further charges will be brought against the accused, who were arrested on Friday at Whaugamomona.
